Welcome to the Long Range Precision & Reloading Course in East Sussex.

Do you want to improve your marksmanship, deepen your understanding of ballistics, and build real confidence shooting beyond your rifle’s zero distance?

This four-day long range shooting course is designed for deer stalkers and target shooters who want to make accurate, ethical shots at realistic UK field distances. This course is not about encouraging extreme or irresponsible range shooting. Quite the opposite. It is about developing the knowledge, discipline and technical understanding required to make safe, confident and ethical decisions when situations stretch slightly beyond your comfort zone.

Professional development in shooting requires dirt time and range time. Structured practice under experienced guidance builds real competence. That is the purpose of this course.

We focus heavily on understanding your own rifle, ammunition and optics. Whether you run an SFP or FFP scope, a simple hunting reticle, ballistic drop compensator, mil or MOA system, or a Christmas tree reticle, you will learn to maximise its capability.

A strong emphasis is placed on building ballistic tables, range cards and D.O.P.E cards (Data of Previous Engagements). While we will shoot out to 300–500 yards to build confidence and technical understanding, the primary focus is realistic UK stalking distances between 100–300 yards. Understanding your rifle at these ranges is critical.

We will also demonstrate and guide you through precision reloading. Under close supervision, you will produce ammunition during the course. This is not a standalone reloading course, but it is a structured and practical introduction to safe, methodical precision handloading.

The course runs in the High Weald countryside of East Sussex and is limited to just 4 participants to ensure maximum coaching time and individual development. Quality equipment is available if you do not have your own rifle.

Phil brings over 30 years of firearms experience, from Army Cadet through to a professional infantryman and over a decade as a deer stalker. His approach combines technical depth, practical field knowledge and a strong emphasis on ethical wildlife management. Your'll be in good hands on this one!

“Phil’s technical knowledge is only rivalled by his ability to present information clearly and logically. His passion for both the subject and his students underpins all his courses. You can place your trust in him and know you will receive technical excellence and personal attention. Thanks again.”

"I took both the Deer Stalking and Long Range Precision courses and can honestly say they were some of the best experiences of my life. On the deer stalking course, I was immersed in an ethical approach to deer management no macho trophy hunting here. Phil’s knowledge and passion for deer ecology, behaviour, and ethical shot placement are unparalleled. Safety and law compliance were emphasised throughout, and the one-on-one attention from having just two participants made all the difference.

The stalks themselves were unforgettable, giving me a completely new perspective on Nature. The Long Range Precision course built on this, giving me confidence and practical skills for accurate long-range shooting and ballistics. Everything is taught in a hands-on, applicable way, linking directly back to ethical field skills. Both courses were fun, highly educational, and unlike anything else in the UK. I can’t recommend them enough."

"For years now, I've had the pleasure of learning from Phil on the deer stalking and then mentorship programs, gaining my FAC grant and first deer stalking permissions. And now the Long Range Precision and Reloading course has rounded off my learning journey nicely.
I really wanted to learn my rifle, be confident with the formulas that go into ballistics so that I can make precise and accurate shots, with the aim of stalking as ethically as possible. And this was the course I needed. Phil expertly condenses several decades of firearms experience into a weekend, making it accessible and streamlining learning (even for someone with a tendency to avoid numbers, like myself). I've left with practical skills and underpinning knowledge to quickly and efficiently build a shooting solution, taking into the account real world conditions all deer stalkers are likely to face. Phils teaching is built around a foundation of honouring these amazing creatures. I highly recommend this brilliant course to any prospective deer stalker. Or target shooter for that matter, because one accurate shot is a lot cheaper than the alternative!"
