Each Triple Laminate Longbow is individually hand made using carefully selected timbers refined for strength, reliability and smooth shooting characteristics. Designed in the medieval war bow style and tillered to full compass, these bows honour the historical form while benefiting from a deep understanding of timber selection and bow design. The result is a striking laminate longbow that offers both authentic character and dependable performance in equal measure.

Build a bow that reflects both tradition and performance. Choose your own backing wood and tapered core, finished with a Lemonwood belly to create a fast, reliable and beautifully balanced English longbow.

English Ash is a classic, tried and tested backing wood. Purpleheart is an excellent core timber, and Lemonwood arguably offers some of the finest characteristics for a belly wood. The creamy golden grain of Ash set against the dense, deep colour of Purpleheart and the soft yellow of Lemonwood makes for a truly striking bow. One of our favourite laminate combinations, the performance is excellent and particularly well suited to heavier bows.

Other refined options are available. Backings include Ash and Maple. Core woods include Yew and Purpleheart. Whichever combination you choose, the result is a stunning and dependable traditional bow. For more images please see the gallery.

We love the English longbow. It is iconic and formidable, used by our ancestors for centuries and even resisting the firearms that eventually superseded it. The style produced is the Medieval war bow, which differs slightly in design from a later target bow. The medieval pattern offers greater structural security in heavier weights, spreading force across more of the bow and subtly through the handle. This is known as full compass tiller.

All bows are tillered to full compass for strength and security without compromising performance.

Bow length varies depending on draw weight. Most mid weight bows are around 74 to 76 inches. Heavier bows may go up to 80 inches. Do not get too concerned about length. A longer bow is generally safer and smoother to shoot. If you are particularly small in stature please email us, otherwise we will determine the correct length based on your chosen poundage.
